LIAM GIBBS
Phase 4
Phase 4 is a competitive, team-based MOBA-lite featuring four playable characters based on the four states of matter. Each character has a distinct skillset that gives them a unique role in combat. Teams of up to four players compete to earn points by capturing constantly changing control points. Phase 4 was developed in four months by a group of 22 students.
I was the Lead Designer as well as one of three Producers of Phase 4, and the only multi-role member of the dev team. I led combat design and guided the creative direction of the project.

Red Flags
Red Flags is a comedic visual novel created for Global Game Jam 2024. The player takes the role of a broke grad student looking to get a free meal from a strange, but rich, man you met on a dating app. The player goes on a date with Jeremy, a socially awkward loner who has no concept of what he should and should not share with strangers. The player converses with Jeremy on a variety of topics and does their best to seem interested in his eccentric and embarrassing personality while resisting the urge to call him out on his weirdness.
I created this game in 48 hours as part of a team of five. I created and pitched the initial concept, and from there acted as the Lead Writer for entire game, as well as designing the "Rizz Meter" system that measures Jeremy's mood.

I am currently working with a group of other Marist College graduates to expand and develop Red Flags into a more complete game. We are working on creating a beta version which adds time management elements to the existing VN dating simulator gameplay, where the player must manage their hunger and finances by working and going on dates while making sure they have enough time to finish their thesis by the end of the month. I am the Lead Designer, Lead Writer, and Project Manager.

Buer
Buer is a tactical turn-based RPG set in a unique splatterpunk inspired sci-fi setting. Players take command of a squadron of corporate mercenaries who are sent to investigate a mysterious mine on a remote ice planet after the last team of mercenaries went dark. There they find the mine is actually the bowels of a gargantuan alien creature filled with parasitic flesh monsters. Trapped inside, the squad must find a way to escape and fight for their lives using limited resources and a unique dismemberment system.

This game was created in four months by a team of nine. I was the Lead Designer and Co-Producer of the project. I designed the combat, enemies, equipment and weapons, and the dismemberment system.
